    Can you advise how much water I should use to make clay putty (from powdered clay)? There aren't any instructions on the bag.

    1. Huh, good question...not sure I've ever measured... I'd say one 50-pound bag of dry clay probably makes two 5-gallon buckets of clay putty. But the consistency you want is thick sour cream, if that helps.

    1. Nice! Are you using bagged clay for your cob as well? Or just for plaster? If for cob also, you might want a bit less water, or you won't be able to build very high each day. Also, you may want to do test bricks to get your sand-to-clay ratio correct before you begin...since different clays have different binding capacity (stickier clays want more sand in the cob/plaster to minimize any cracking).
